The Prosper + Profit Podcast

Transcript for this episode:

This is episode one of the Prosper and Profit Podcast. This is the Prosper and Profit Podcast, where women talk about money and transformation because being independent with money is sexy and profitable. Money transformations are how you prosper with your money daily. Now for your host, Clarissa Wilson.

In this very first episode of the Prosper and Profit Podcast, I want to explain a little bit more about who I am, why I am doing this podcast, and what you can expect. My name is Clarissa Wilson and I am a money mentor for women and I really like to help women be able to build the relationship with their money. I was led to really being able to help women develop their relationship after I spent a year working as a tax preparer because during that time I saw how women were really out of touch with money. They would come in to get their tax return prepared, but they were just doing it because their husband told them to come in. They weren’t able to answer most of my questions that had to do with money because they didn’t deal with the money. They spent the money, but they didn’t make the money, they didn’t know where the money was coming from, or where the money was going.

I started doing some research on this topic to be able to build my own relationship first, because I had a lot of issues in my past with money and by starting to do this research, stuff started coming up. I had to be able to deal with my own money issues before I could help someone else. I faced my past with money and began to really change things for myself and when I started doing that I was able to stop living paycheck to paycheck and it was actually, at the time, less than paycheck to paycheck.

The other thing is when I really started working on my own money story, I was offered a job that was double my last salary and that was where things really started to take off for me because not only was it double my last salary, it was a job that I absolutely loved doing. It was something that I had wanted to get before I graduated college as an auditor for the government. I was never able to get a job with the government when I was in college because I guess I wasn’t just active enough in certain clubs and other things, even though I had the really good GPA, I had all of everything else. I just wasn’t there for a government job.

It took me 5 years to get this job that I really wanted after college and then everything just started changing for me. It all fell into place. Everything else that I’m doing with being able to help women with their relationship with money just really fell into place. My own money story fell into place, and things have just really, really worked for me, and I couldn’t be happier.

My goal with this podcast is to be able to help women to start talking about money and facing money on a regular basis. Money is a powerful tool that we have in our lives and it’s really time for women to start stepping into this power. I have nothing against men, and men might even learn something from this podcast by listening. My specific goal is to help women be able to become independent with their money and stop relying on someone else. It’s just what I have seen happen over the years, and everything that I’ve seen where women don’t deal with money. They don’t have that independence. We’re working on getting more of that and that’s what I teach, is to help these women be able to really build that relationship and become more independent and have their own source of money so that if something does happen, as in, they lose their spouse or they have to get divorced, and it comes to a point where they don’t have someone else that is providing for them, and that’s all that they’ve known, we can now provide that life for ourselves because we have built this independence and relationship with our money and we no longer have to deal with someone else.

Yes, it is nice to be able to have more than one person, but before you can really have more than one person working with you on your money. You have to have that independence too. That is my goal with this podcast, is to help women learn more about money and become more independent, so that they don’t have to rely on anyone else. If something does happen, they have the ability to be able to step up and just take care of everything without having a financial breakdown before all of this happens.

Every week we will be publishing 2 episodes. One episode is just going to be me talking to teach you something more about money. It can be a topic that will be to deal with your money relationship, it can be any other kind of money topic, just whatever comes to mind. I will be teaching that. Then, I will also have on interview a week with one woman who has successfully built her relationship with money over the years. I can tell you that I absolutely love doing each of these interviews, they are so much fun. There is something to learn from every single woman that I am interviewing. I would really encourage you to listen to all of these episodes and really be able to take something away so that you can learn something too.
