Tess’s Bio
Tess Wicks is an advocate for every woman to become rich, happy, and free. She is the voice behind the brand, Words and Money at TessWicks.com, a blog and podcast for millennial-aged women who want to be inspired and encouraged to get their money matters in check. Tess speaks nationwide to millennials, female organizations, and women in business about money. It is her mission to help every woman realize that they can achieve a life of luxury and financial freedom, it just takes a little feminine confidence, self-trust, and the wherewithal to pay yourself first.
Tess’s Business
Tess became an entrepreneur to help teach women more about money and personal finance because it’s just one of those things that you never learn in school. She was a Finance major in college and learned about stocks and investing, but not how to take care of your personal finances, or taking care of your business finances. So she had to learn this on her own and then started teaching others how to do it once she learned it.
What she’s working on right now
Tess is working on rebranding her business as Wander Wealthy because that is what her mission has evolved into over her time as an entrepreneur.
Her first money memory
Tess did afterschool baby-sitting when she was in 4th or 5th grade. She was being paid by check. But since she didn’t know what a check was at the time, she just took the checks and hid them in a box under her bed. She had been collecting these checks for a few months, when her mom asked her what she was doing with the checks that she had received from her babysitting. So her mom took the checks to the bank, opened an account for Tess, and she then had all of her money in savings.
Her worst money memory
Tess was ashamed of how her parents were able to provide her with a pretty good life when she was growing up. Her school mates teased her when she was in school that they had money hidden in her basement. But shame around money is a big thing that a lot of us have and Tess was able to work on this shame and really realize what her life was like when she was growing up in small town Iowa.
Her best money memory
Her best money memory is when she was able to invest her money for the first time.
One thing she does daily to build wealth consciousness
She is constantly using the mantras from Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker and working on improving her mindset.
